Southport Swords hosted the 2022 Tournament, the first since the outbreak of Covid. The competing teams were Handsworth Sword Dancers, Mersey Morris Men, Sallyport Sword Dancers and Southport Swords. Also dancing but not competing were Speelschaar Ossaart, a team from the Flemish city of Sint Niklaas. After some warm-up sessions around the town the tournament itself was held in the Scarisbrick Hotel on Lord Street. The results of the Tournament were as follows:-

The judges for the performances were Frank Lee, Sue Rutland and Tony Foard, the compere for the afternoon was Moss Ambrose.
Handsworth won both the Traditional Class with the Handsworth dance for eight performers and also the Own Dance class with their recently written dance, Medlock. They also won won the Music prize and the SDU trophy for the Best Audience reaction.
A unique Trophy was awarded to to Speelschaar Ossaart from Belgium who were guests of Southport at their Day of Dance.
